Tollhouse, near Cornwall Avenue, Peacehaven. Demolished for road widening about 1936.
Taken from the top of Bagnall's Stores during construction. The latter, the similar house opposite, and three more east of Downland Avenue, were built by a firm from London. As can be seen, blocks on their sides were used, with no cavity. This may have been OK in London, but in Peacehaven it was asking for trouble (damp from rain penetration).
